Here’s some of the reasons just why this could be an iPhone 5 Killer:
4.3 qHD screen: A raw 960 x 540 resolution screen gives almost as good a performance as the iPhone screen but the real deal sealer is the size: the 4.3″ beast is comparatively larger than Apple’s offering at very little noticeable performance difference.
8MP Camera: With a dual LED flash, the camera really is threatening to be the best in class here. It’s very likely that the iPhone will not be able to touch the camera here, with imaging not being the strongest of it’s points.
1.5Ghz Dual Core Processors: This probably represents some of the fastest dual-core processors we’ve seen outside of computing circles, and over double some of the standards seen in 2010. The performance-side of things on this phone should be superb, and it’s more a case of actually needing some type of apps to really take advantage on it. Multi-tasking anything should be a breeze.
Sense 3.5? Strangely enough, the Sense UI appeared to be missing on the screenshots, although we’d be very surprised if HTC was to let out an Android without putting in something. We’d rather think that some kind of custom Sense UI would be released for this phone to take advantage of the increased processing power. Whether this means a greater amount of widgets or richer media display remains to be seen.
1GB/16GB Storage: 1GB RAM ships on this handset – we’d actually prefer two, but we’d guess the price needs to be kept down a little. 16GB storage is becoming the choice of many for 2012 handsets, and a good one too, as apps continue to increase in their hard-disc space usage. For those of you who don’t have enough, there is also the obligatory micro SD card slot.
Release Date and Price? The phone hasn’t been announced yet but it seems very likely that it will go official in some form with the specs seemingly attainable. We’d reckon the release date will be by the end of 2011 but the price tag looks set to be very big, and we reckon SIM-Free versions will top the scales initially at about £500.
